This collection was created during Navratri, the 9 night festival, honoring Goddess DurgaDevi/Shakti (female energy & empowerment of the Universe); and 9 of her sacred forms.
This energy art piece, depicts the energy of the Goddess as Kushmanda (who is honored on the 4th day/night of Navratri).
Kushmanda, is said to have existed as energy before anything or anyone else. She is (or is part of) the Universal Primal Energy & power; and is the key factor, in one of the world's oldest "creation myths".
It is written, that before creation, when the worlds were dark, Kushmanda existed as the Cosmic Egg and seed of Creation. The radiance of her smile, gave birth to our Universe; and is said to still provide light, heat, and energy to our Sun, where she takes her seat.
After the birth of the Universe, Goddess Kushmanda created & birthed 3 divine beings to be the energetic basis for our worlds. Through her right, left, and third eyes, Kushmanda created Goddess Kali, Goddess Lakshmi, and Goddess Saraswati. Maha Kali representing Heat, Maha Lakshmi became the representative of Light, and Maha Saraswati became the representative of Sound (or frequency). Through these 3, Kushmanda then created the male Trimurti, of Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma, and Lord Vishnu, before creating or assigning them their divine companions, of Kali/Parvati with Lord Shiva, Lakshmi with Lord Vishnu, and Saraswati with Lord Brahma.
This creation aspect of the Goddess, is illustrated in her name itself; as in Sanskrit, ‘ku’ means little or micro, ‘anda’ means egg/primordial form, and 'ushmaanda’ means egg ready to hatch/manifest into life. Thus Kushmanda, means the small particle, primordial egg (or atom), which sprang forth into Life and Creation itself. A perfect way to call upon the energy of creation, and our Goddess.
As her smile is said to still light and warm our earth and all planets through the light of our sun, in my opinion, causing Goddess to smile, allows you to play a part in lighting all that is. I created this quantum energy infused piece with that and Her in mind.
